In the reading passage, the author claims that thre are three viable explanations for the occuring of the littel ice age, which occured approximately form 1350 to 1900CE. However, finding all the ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts dount on what is presented in the lecture and stated that the theories mentioned in the passage were based on outdated information and none of these reasons can be accounted as a cuase associated with this phenomenone.
At first, the author argues that the the glasiers were melted due to unprecedant warm weather and sent the enormous amount of cold streams in to the Gulf stream which ended up with cooling the ephemeral alteration in global climate. On the onther hand, the lecturer brings up the idea that this theory merely clarify the changes related to the East and North of United States. Whereas, the climate change widely happened in soutern Hemisophere including Newsland and South Afirca. Nonetheless, there is not any explanation() for the colling climate in these areas.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that blocking the sunlight by the gases coming form volcanic eruption caused the decreasing in global temperatures. THe professor disputes this idea by clarifying that it is true that sever volcanic eruption can emite massive gases into atmosphere, but there are some other visual indications when this phenomenon occure. For instance, colorful sunlight or grey and brown snow instead of the white snome. But the fact is none of these signs were reported by the people lived in that era of time nonetheless. COnsequently, this theory could have not cuased a substantial drop in globale temperature.
Finally, the author asserts that a dramatic decline in human population within that period by alleviating the green house effect indirectly affected globale climate. The professor, thought, dimisses this idea by subscribing the fact that the human population abruptly started to grow; thus they cut down trees to prepare sufficient food for the increasingly growth population. Indeed, they required their farmland to cultivate crops. Furthermore, the forest only can bring such impact on the global climate if only it lasts for a long time, though we know that the trees quickly had been substituded by the fileds.
