The given charts provide data about the ages of population in both Italy and Yemen in 2000 as well as a prediction for these country for 2050.
In general, it can be seen that Yemen had the youngest population in 2000 and it is predicted the same for the year 2050. The proportion of elderly people is predicted to increase in both countries over the 50 year period.
With regard to Yemen, in 2000 just over a half the population were under 14, compared to just over 15% of italian in the same group. Only a small percentage of people in Yemen were over 60 at 3.6%, whereas in Italy the percentage of people over 60 were sligthly higher compared to that of Yemen at 14.3%. In 2000, people aged between 15-59 represented 46,6% and 61,6% in Yemen and Italy respectively.
It is predicted that the youngest group will decrease marginally from 50,1% to 37% in Yemen and from 14,3% to 11,5% in Italy in 2050. Projections also show that there will be an increase in the number of people over 60 years, with 42,3% and 5,7% in Yemen and Italy correspondingly.
