The bar chart compares the popularity of nine various types of sports in New Zealand in the year 2002.
Overall, the most played sport by girls was netball while boys preferred playing soccer rather than the other sports.
Almost 25% of girls enjoyed playing betball, compared to only about 1% of boys. One of the most played sport by boys was soccer with the parcitipation of nearly 25%, while the percentage of girls taking part in this sport was approximately 5%. In comparision to nearly 23% of girls whii participated in swimming, the figure for boys stood at under 15%. The proportion of boys choosing other sports was under 20% while only about 10% of girls decided to play other sports.
The five sports remained in the list were less common than the sports mentioned. Boys crossed the girls in cricket and marital arts with considerable difference, by about 10% and 8% respectively. In basketball and tennis, the proportion of boys playing was little higher thanh the figures for girls with minimal margin of 2 to 3%. More girls participated in athletics than boys. The figures for girls and boys playing this sport were 5% and 4% respectively.
