Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Nowadays, the ability to speak more than one language is very important. Children in all over the world are highly recommended to learn foreign languages either at school or special course. The earlier children start to learn a foreign language, at primary school for example, the faster they will master it. Despite of some disadvantages that might appear, in my opinion, the advantages of starting learning foreign language a primary school outweigh the disadvantages.
There are many advantages of starting learning a foreign language at primary school rather than at secondary school. First of all, they will master it in earlier age rather than other children who start learning at primary school. Also, some researches have showed that the ability of memorizing in children at primary school is better than adults. Because learning a foreign language is full of memorizing activity, such as vocabulary of grammar, it is good for them to start at young age. Moreover, some researches have showed that children who already master a foreign language will be easier to learn another foreign language rather than children who only speak their mother tongue.
However, there are some disadvantages that might appear when children learn a foreign language at primary school. First, they can feel more tired because there are more lessons in the class. Second, their playing time will be reduced by learning foreign language program. Nevertheless, there are some strategies to reduce the this negative effects such as teacher make more fun activity in the learning process by including many games for example. The children will have fun even though they are in the learning process.
To sum up, children should be highly encouraged to start study a foreign language at primary school. By adding more fun and joyful, children will enjoy learning any foreign languages.
