Integrated TPO 44

The article brought three reasons to prove that the silver coin, which has been discovered at a Native American site is a fake one. Nonetheless, the professor puts those reasons under question, which will be discussed in the following.

The first reason brought by the passage is that the coin has been found in far distances from the sites that Norse was settled. So the coin has no real connection with the settlements. However, the lecturer argues that there are many other objects, which has been discovered in the North America. In fact, there are some reasonable pieces of historical evidence that show Americans have traveled great distances. Therefore, they could reach Norse settlement and brought these objects to North America.

Another assumption raised by the article is that no other coins have been found at the Norse settlements. Hence, Norse did not bring silver coins to the North America. In contrast, the professor asserts that Norse did not have a permanent settlement. Therefore, they might pack up all the coins when they want to come back to Europe.

Third, contrary to the idea in the passage that North America did not value silver coins, the lecturer points out Europe has known that North America might value appealing objects like a silver coin and use it for making neckless. As such, Norse could take silver coins with themselves to the North America.
