The reading reveals that there are three methods which can be used for preventing the problem of declining frog populations. However, the professor explains that the solutions mentioned in reading are not a practical solution and refutes each of author reasons.
First, frogs are harmed by pesticides which are chemicals used by a farmer to save their crops from insects and this chemical damage frog's breathing system. Nevertheless, the speaker opposes this point by saying that reducing or regulate law to prohibit using pesticides have many disadvantages for the farmer and this causes many of their crops damage and by not using pesticides they can not compete with others farmer.
Second, based on the reading, a fungus which spread around the world have a deathly effect on frog and is major factor decrease in frog population. Conversely, the professor states that we have to catch frog individual for treatment its skin fungus and on a large scale it is a difficult task to do. Also, for preventing this problem we have to use this work again and again which is complicated and cost a lot.
Third, according to the reading, frog's natural habitats are threatened by human activities like excessive water use or the draining of wetlands. In contrast, the lecturer contradicts this point reasoning that global warming is threatened natural habitats of frog and because of it, many water habitats are disappeared. In fact, preventing the human activities is unlikely to help saving water habitats of frogs.
Therefore, specifies reasons mentioned in the reading do not make sense.
