Overall, it can be seen that the net quantity of tourists soared significantly. Another notable feature is that Europe outstripped the rest even though all zones witnessed a rise in the figure.
In 1990, Europe was the top most favourite destination with 280.2 million visitors, while Middle East was the least preferred place with 9.8 million. There was a gradual swell in the amount each year for both parts finishing at 400.2 (Europe) and 15.8 (Middle East) in 2005, the latter being far lower than former. The United States was the second most popular area at 80.5 million in the beginning year. There was a rapid growth to 112.5 in 1995; the subsequent years experienced a steady swell to 113.2 million in the end of the term.
Asia and Pacific stood at 60.2 million as a 3rd favoured place followed by a sharp rise year on year to 135.8 million by 2005. In contrast, there was just a progressive increasing trend yearly for Africa from 18.2 to 28.7. When it comes to total, 1990 at 448.9 million was nowhere near as in demand as 2005 with 693.7 million guests.
