Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure centre that it runs, in order to save money.
Write a letter to the local council. In your letter
-give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
-explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
-describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes
Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to apprise you of decision that the local council has taken to shutdown the sports & leisure club stating the reason of cash crunch.
I would like to tell you that me, including my family of four and my friends in my locality use the services of the club extensively. We play several indoor as well as outdoor sports regularly which keeps us health and fit. A bunch of yoga classes that have been recently added to the roster of the club is also a big stress buster for us.
In fact, the entire society is an avid visitor of the club and it acts as a unifying factor for the residents of the community. As stated earlier, the yoga classes are helpful not just for us but for the age groups of 30-65 as well. A lot of young women have joined the self defense classes as well which instills confidence in them so that they can move around in the city confidently and with no worries.
As explained above, if the centre is closed then it will have a huge impact on the lives of all the residents including me and my family. The healthy lifestyle that they enjoying currently will cease to exist which can result in both short and long term health hazards. Moreover, it will take away the togetherness and belongingness they have with each other., It could also result in turning some of them as social outcasts as the club is the only way for them to be socially active.
Therefore, I would strongly urge you to reconsider your decision before closing down our club.
Looking forward for a favourable solution.
Yours Faithfully,
George.
