The first pie chart presents how average australian families used energy, while the second pie chart provides the corresponding information of the emitted greenhouse gas resulting from their energy used. Overall the majority of energy consumption of australian household was for heating; however, this was in contrast to the green house gas emission which mostly came from water heating.
Looking first at the proportion of Australian household energy consumption. Most of it went to heating; 42% followed by water heating; 30%. The energy consumed by other appliances halved of that by water heating, accounted for 15%. The percentage of energy used for refrigeration, lighting and cooling were trivial, total of those percentages accounted for less than 15%.
Now turning to Australian household greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of it (32%) caused by water heating. Surprisingly, this did not go in the same way as energy consumption. The activity that caused the second highest greenhouse emission was the use of other appliances, 20%. Whereas heating that most of the energy was used for, did not release that much greenhouse gas, accounted for 15%. And about the same percentage was found for refrigeration, 14%. The proportion of cooling and lighting was very small, together was only about 10%.
