Claim: Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's major field of study.

Reason: Acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated.

The College provides plethora of majors and minor courses that student can choose for the graduation degree. It is an ultimate place which provides the conducive environment to the students acquiring the knowledge and learn the concepts that are necessary to put bread and butter in their lives ahead. However, sometimes the change in situations in job market compel students to before selecting the right coursework and this is where the option to select the minor can be helpful in complement with their majors. Therefore, I strongly agree with the author's claim and list some most conspicuous reasons to rear my standpoints.
To begin, the job market is never stable in the long run and keep on changing with the new career choices leaving behind the existing ones. This transition phase is the toughest for students studying in universities as the major they have opted can be at its dismissal at the time of their graduation. For instance, after the 2008 recession, the financial sector took the huge hit and with least jobs available for the graduating students. This forces them to study and invest more time in learning another skill to gain employment. This exemplifies that if the universities provoke students to take a minor course along with their major and provide the equivocal learnings then it can provide the safe window for them upon graduation in terms of their employment. Also, having another study gives more opportunities for the internships just in case students are not able to find them in their main coursework or they might shift from their major to the minor as it seems more attractive by then.
Another compelling reason is in terms of the student's interest as alongside studying their terms many students are interested in extracurricular activities, like playing specific sports, music, writing, cinematography or photography. Acquiring knowledge in their area of interest will help them to have more career options. Also, the research shows that the students have much pressure from the coursework and their peers which degrade their ability for studying and this is where their extracurricular activities can help them to stay calm and compose which eventually leads to the better learning environment.

In conclusion, the aforementioned facts give a clear vision that an additional course within the students area of interest can be beneficial ergonomically and psychologically.
