Government should offer free education to anyone who has been admitted to University but cannot afford the tuition.
Government should offer full ride scholarships to the students who manages admission in Universities but does not have the ability to pay for it. The aforementioned system should be in place for Public Universities enforced by the government itself. Beside this, privately owned Universities should also be encouraged to have sufficient funds allocated for the purpose.
Need based scholarship has been in existence for some years now. Universities both public and private have taken various steps to come forward in mitigating the financial problem for students who don’t have the funds required for covering the tuition fee of the course or degree he has been registered in. But the lack of steadfast policies regarding this particularly from the government itself has hampered the process to be in full force.
Government should undertake a multi-level plan to implement the required proposition. Firstly, there should be a thorough survey of the economic condition of each families by the state or city council they are living under. This not only serves the purpose of the proposition that is being discussed but also creates an opportunity for the government to use this data for further projects. Secondly, government should collect the required budget as proposed by each Universities for giving scholarships to under-privileged. With adequate subsidies this can easily be covered from other sectors where financing has been in excess lately. Lastly, due capabilities test should be ensured for the student to get the opportunity.
For the fulfillment of the project, there might be some initial issues for squelching of budget from other sector but with adequate time, once these students become graduates and turn into important human resource for the society they will definitely contribute to the economy much more than imagined. Education indeed should be one of the fundamental rights of human being. If someone is capable enough to undertake higher studies in each step there should not be any factor denying him the chance to do so.
