The table below shows the proportion of different categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999.
The table provides information about various types of families with limited financial resources in Australia in 1999. It can be clearly seen that, each household category has quite diverse poverty rates.
First glance at the table indicates that lonely parents ranked first in terms of financial shortage, as 21% of them were poor. The second poorest family group was single families with no children and they were followed by couples having children, in order to be more precise, we can state that the percentages of the poor for those two household categories were respectively 21% and 12%.
