The table shows the proportion of different categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999.

The table below lets us compare the proportion of various categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999.The chart consists of 2 parts, one side shows the type of families, another side the proportion of people from each household type living in poverty.

The proportions change between 4 % and 21 % and the greatest indicator belongs to sole parents, the smallest to aged couple, also the average per cent of all households is 11 %.

According to the chart, we see that 6 %, to be more precise 54000 of single aged person live in poverty. The chart also lets us claim that in Australia the living conditions of couples who do not have children are much better than couples with children and the situation of single people without children is worse than the indicated two types in 1999. It also can be noted that altough the percent of couples with children is not the biggest one, the vast number of people belong to this group, and this can be a worrying index for that period.
