Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Employers have placed high value on the gender factor when determining their staff throughout the history. This fact has given rise to the similar trend at universities while choosing their students. Actually, the ratio of women to men differs from faculty to faculty. So, nowadays, many people think that this inclination is not fair and the number of males and females must be equal in any subject. But I don’t agree with this opinion and I will try to elucidate my point of view below.
First of all, at valuing school leavers in order to choose candidates that are most coherent to their faculty, the most important criterion for universities must be people’s skills, abilities and motivation, not their sexes. Considering the fact, that all males and females can be equally successful in various majors, it is not useful to define the amount of men and women before knowing candidates comprehensively.
Additionally, some jobs are for men, while other several occupations are for women. To be more precise, it would not be very logical to require the same amount of both genders at departments preparing army officers. Whereas, it would be very extraordinary to have as many men as women, in subjects related to cloth designing.
On the other hand, many majors are equally suitable for both sexes. Accepting the same amount of women and men students in those subjects can really pay off, since it can remove discrimination towards females at modern organizations.
To sum it up, although it can be beneficial in some ways, having the equal quantities of men and women students in every faculty of universities is not very useful because of the above mentioned reasons.
