The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of residents living in metropolitan regions on the globe and in various continents.
Overall, North America was the land with the largest urban population in 2003, and South America will be the least urban population in 2030. It is also noticeable that Africa is the area with the smallest population in cities throughout the two years.
Regarding the regions with small populations in cities, in the first year, Africa was at the lowest level, with below 40%. Asia was around 5% higher, and the World around 8% higher. However, in the second year, there will be an upward trend in all the 3 regions. The population in Africa will rise to over 50%, but this land will still be the least populated area. The population in Asia will be slightly higher, and that in the World will increase by over 10%.
Concerning the continents with large populations in cities, in the first year, North America began with precisely 80%, which held the top position. The populations in the other two continents were around over 70%. In the second year, there will be an increasing tendency in all the 3 regions. South America will be at the top with over 82%. The populations in Europe and North America will be under 80% and over 80% respectively.
