The bar chart reveals the proportion of males and females serving in different sectors, in the UK in 2005.
One-fifth of the total male workforce was employed in skilled trades, whereas only 3% of women held this job. Likewise, the administrative and secretarial sector attracted most women employees, but only 5% of males worked in the same domain. 18% of males were designated as managers and senior officials against 11% of females. However, the women workforce dominated personal services, as the proportion was 14% and 2% for women and men, respectively.
A similar proportion of males and females, around 10%, was working as labourers and catering assistants. Likewise, both the genders were closely competing for the designation of associate and technical professional. A difference of 10% is visible in men and women working as process, plant and machine operatives, where males were around 12%. In contrast, 12% of women workforce worked as sales and customer service executives against 5% men.
Overall, men mainly held positions as traders and managers, while women chose administrative and secretarial designation over others.
