The bar chart below shows the employment of all male and female workers by occupation in the UK in the year 2005

The bar chart provides information about the percentage of UK men and women employees working in different areas in 2005.
In general, while men had a tendency to work in skilled trades, women would love to have jobs as administrators and secretaries. Another point worth noticing is that the number of men and women working in professional associations and elementary occupations is nearly the same.
Looking into details, one in every five percent of men worked in the skilled trades industry, which ranked first in male employment. This number was also fourth as high for women. Next came the mangagers and senior officals occupations, with approximately 20% of men. However, males seemd not to be keen on working in the administrative and secretarial business. Last but not least, the bottom of this list came with personal service at just 2.5% compared to nearly 15% in the number of women.
On the other hand, over 20% of women worked as administrators and secretaries, which tripled the number of men in this industry. Nevertheless, women did not fancy being skilled traders and process, plant and machine operators when this figure was just 2.5% which was much lower than that for men.
