The bar chart below illustrates the sum of students doing research on 6 subjects, namely linguistics, psychology, natural sciences, engineering, programming and mathematics, in the year 2005. The units are being measured in number of students.

Overall, the male learners did more research on those 6 subjects than the female ones, and while natural sciences cut across as the most researched for both the learners, the least researched were mathematics for the female learners and linguistics for the male ones.

In natural sciences had the highest number from both genders; 200, male and female equally, studied it in 2005. Mathematics had the least number of females studying it, at around 40 in comparison to the 200 males studying the subject. On the other hand, linguistics had the least number of males studying it at around 110 scholars in comparison to the female scholars that were clocked it a little over 80.

Psychology was the second most explored topic, with 200 lads and 155 ladies making an inquest on it. Engineering and programming had similar sum of lads exploring the topic at 150 each; on the contrary, about 90 and 55 ladies had explored the two topics, respectively, in that year.
