The bar chart illustrates the proportion of government expenditure on roads and transport in 4 countries from 1990 to 2005.
Overall, Portugal and Italy had much higher percentage compared to USA and UK. The figure of Portugal decreased over 15 years whilst USA increased and Italy as well as UK fluctuated in the same period.
The government expenditure on roads and transport of Portugal was about 27% in 1990 then gradually declined to precisely 20% in 2005. By contrast, USA government spend much less proportion on transportation infrastructure than Portugal with over 10% in 1990. This number however went up and reached the peak of 15% in 2005.
Italy government spend pretty much on roads and transport with about 23% in 1990, this figure then fluctuated and finally dropped to approximately 19% in 2005. Changing in the same manner at a lower level, the data of UK started with 10% in 1990 then declined to 9% in 1995. After reaching the peak of about 12%, the data ended up with 7% in 2005.
