The bar chart depicts the ratio of 5 different age groups of people who are living alone in the USA between 1850 to 2000.
Overall, it seems that the percentage in all the age groups over this period has been increased gradually. However, it started with very less numbers, but the highest proportion ended up with 55-64 age group.
In 1880, only three age groups are given. The group of 37-46 and 47-54 years were reported just 2% citizens, whereas, 55-64 years group seemed slightly up at 3% poplulation. In 1900, it is updated with a one more age group, which was 27-36 years old, started with 2% people. There was a minor increase in the age group of 47-54 years old and 55-64 years old, 3% and 4% respectively. Percentage of living alone remained stable at 55-64 years category.
In 1950, 55-64-years group increased dramatically by 9% who were staying alone in the USA. The year 2000 then saw a rise in the proportions, with the percentage of the 55-64 years old almost doubling to 17%. While 5% of the 17-26 group lived alone. Age group 27-36, 37-46 and 47-54 were also risen up with 8%, 7% and 13% respectively.
