The bar chart below shows the percentage of students who passed their high school competency exams, by subject and gender, during the period 2010-2011.

The bar graphs depicts the performance of boys and girls in different subjects in secondary school test.
On the whole, it is clear that girls have outperformed the boys in the period of research. Though this is only by a margin in most cases. The trend here is that in computer science and foreign languages most students have done well, whereas in social sciences like history and geography it was not the case.

While boys have delivered the best results in mathematics, with a pass percentage of 47.4%, the girls have aced computer science with 56 girls in every hundred clearing it. Even in quantitative field like maths, nearly 48 % passing was witnessed among boys. This is in contrast with 49.2% pass in girls. In case of foreign languages there is no break up of individual subjects. Hence, it is not possible to determine which language wise passing trend. Yet, what remains evident is that about 47% of students are able to get through. Chemistry is the subject which has a two is to one pass ratio for females and males respectively. The count of boys passing is a mere 14.1% with the girls being 30.2%.

In Physics there is an even divide, with around 36.7% and 34.2% being the passing rate for females and males respectively. The corresponding figures are 25.6% and 22.9% for History. Finally comes the case of geography where the boys overtake the girls. With only 20.1% girls clearing this subject, the boys have taken the lead by about 10%.

So to conclude, in most cases girls have possibly studied harder to clear these subjects with the exception of geography.
