The pie chart compares the percentage of people living alone in the United Kingdom in terms of age and gender in 2011 while the pie chart shows the amount of bedrooms in a single-person house in the same year.
As it can be highlighted from the graphs that most men lived alone at their 40s and the same for women at their 80s. Despite living alone, a majority of people stayed in houses with 2 bedrooms. Only a minority lived in houses with more than 5 bedrooms.
The proportion of men and boys in the age group of 25-34 living alone accounted for over 60%, which is 2 times higher than that in the age group of 75-84, about 35%. On the contrary, women at their 75-84 were more likely to live alone, approximately 74%. A higher percentage of females living alone was devoted to the age group of 65-74 compared to the others, which is 60%, 50% and 45% respectively.
Apart from houses with 2 bedrooms, houses with 3 bedrooms stood for the second most common option for people who lives alone with the percentage of 29,8%. A higher proportion was devoted to 1 bedroom households compared to the 4 bedrooms households, which is 28% and 5.3% each.
