Overall, China was the largest manufacturing and consuming country in terms of electricity all around the world in the year surveyed. It is clear that Germany was the only country in the top ten ranks consumed power more than producing it.
In the year 2014, the respective amounts of electricity produced and used in China were 5.398 and 5.322 billion kWh. Following it was the U.S with 4.099 and 3.866 billion kWh of generated and consumed electricity, respectively, which were many times higher than those of the other countries in the top ten rank.
Turning to the eight remaining nations, the production and consumption of electricity in Russia, which was in the third place, were relatively similar, around 1.000 billion kWh each. Meanwhile, the amount of electricity used in Japan, right after Russia in the rank, was about 100 billion lower than that which was generated in the country. The figure of disparity between the two categories in India, the fifth nation, was 200 billion kWh. The electricity generation and usage observed in Canada, France, and Brazil were not significantly different, between 450 billion and 620 billion. In 2014, Germany consumed 582.5 billion kWh of electricity but produced only 526.6 billion kWh. Finally, 485.1 and 449.5 billion kWh of electricity were generated and used for different purposes in Korea.
