The bar chart gives information about the money people spent on buying a house in the UK in various years, while the pie charts depict the distribution of three ownership categories, namely owners, home renters and those with second houses, in the years 1985, 1995 and 2005.

Overall, there was a significant upward trend in the UK house price over the period shown. Additionally, owners and people renting accounted for the most in the percentage of types of ownership.

For the cost of owning a home, in 1980, the English spent nearly 25, 000 euros after which this money rose more than double and reached to the point of over 50, 000 in the next 10 years. Although there was marginal change in the house price between 1985 and 1995, the average expenditure on house purchases dramatically increased after a decade. In 2005, the price surged/soared to around 150, 000 higher than its initial figure/value in 1980 and settled to 200, 000 euros.

In terms of the ownership's types, owners and renting categories took the largest proportion which accounted for more than 90 per cent. Particularly, the percentage of owners decreased slightly from three-fifths to 44% in 2005 while the opposite was true for people renting category. This figure witnessed a notable increase, rising by 3% to 1995 and a substantial 10% from 1995 to 2005. For the second home-owning type, it only had a minor proportion at 7% on average.
