Overall, it is clear that food took the largest proportion of the total spending in 1968 while in 2018 the money spent on leisure was the highest. Additionally, this country dwellers seemed to spend more money
It can be seen that regarding the year 1968, the majority of money one family earned were spent on sustenance which accounted for 35%. Housing and clothing and footwear was the second highest and shared the same proportion of 10% for each category. In terms of other research objects, namely fuel and power, household and personal goods or transport, they took the percentage of 8% on average.
Turning to the year 2018, there was a huge difference in the way people spent their money. Leisure’s spending witnessed a dramatic rise of 13% and ranked first in the total spending. Meanwhile, the opposite was true for food, this figure decreased significantly from 35% in 1968 to 17% in 2018. Moreover, transport and housing also showed a steady increase in the expenditure, reaching the value of 14% and 19%, respectively. For other categories, there were not numerous notable changes in the total proportion in the year shown.
