The bar chart represents how citizens of various age groups utilized news sources in an unnamed country in 2011.
In general, radio was the most popular form of news media for all ages, except for those between 10 and 17. Moreover, it is worth noticing that micro blogging and social networks were more common among people of younger ages.
As revealed in the chart, the categories of kids and teenagers (10 to 17) and young adults (18 to 29) saw a similar proportions of social network usage with 80 percent. However, only 20 percent of those under 17 accessed news from radio while that figure for those under 19 was slightly higher with 25 percent. Most notably, standing at around 94 percent, the percentage of micro blogging users among young adults was over twice as much as that among children and teenagers which remained at 40 percent.
It should be noticed that the popularity of social networks gradually decreased as the surveyed population got older with the proportions for people under 50, under 65 and over 65 being 46 percent, 32 percent and 10 percent respectively. The same pattern could be seen in the utilization of micro blogging as the figures declined from 15 percent among residents between 30 and 49 to just about 3 percent among senior citizens. Meanwhile, radio managed to maintain its powerful position since the quantities of usage among the three older groups all exceeded 80 percent.
