The chart illustrates the differences of mean prices of houses in New York, Madrid, Tokyo, Frankfurt and London over the 13 years from 1990 to 2002 in comparison to the average house prices in 1989.

Overall, house prices of three cities reduced in first 6 years compare to the prices in 1989. Except in Tokyo, however, it soared in later years where inclination rate in London being the highest.

From 1990-1995, the house prices in London and Tokyo was around 7 percent less than in 1989 and exactly 5 percent less in New York. Also, it could be seen that in Madrid and London the rate rose a bit which was more or less 1%.

Although house values depreciated in first 6 years for some cities, the increasing price trend could be seen from 1996 to 2002. In London, it rose above 10% which was more than twice than other cities. Also, the prices in New York increased by 5%. Meanwhile, In Madrid, it increased by around 5% and decreased by 5% in Tokyo while it remained quite same in Frankfurt about 1% inclination.
