The chart below shows the changes in three different areas of crime in Manchester city centre from 2003-2012
The line graph illustrates the number of three kinds of crime (Burglary, Car Theft and Robbery) which were commited over 9 years between 2003 and 2012 in Manchester city centre.
Overall, the rate of burglary decreased over the period given, while for car theft, it rose. At the start of period, burglary was the most popular crime, which was surpassed by car theft from 2005 to 2012, and following that robbery became the less common type of crime in the final years.
With regards to the number of burglary, it began at around 3500 in 2003 and reached its peak at approximately 3700 before falling dramatically to about 1500 in the last year. In contrast, approximately 2400 of car theft were commited in the first year after which the figure experienced a slight growth at around 2800.
On the other hand, the proportion of robbery crime only started at about 500. This figure, which slightly flactuated during the given period of time, eventually stayed the same in 2012
