The bar graph illustrates the proportion of the houses which was owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales from 1981 to 2011.

Overall, there was an equal share percentage of owned and rented accommodation in 1971 between two countries, however before 1971 rented houses are higher than owned property and the situation was opposite after 1971.

As seen in the graph, the rented accommodation was 50% higher than the owned accommodation in 1918 which consists of 75% of houses were rented and only 25 % were owned property. The proportion of rented accommodation started to decrease slightly in the following year, whereas the percentage of owned accommodation started to increase till both reached shared equal proportion in 1971.

The houses in owned accommodation started to increase slowly till 2001 before it decreased in 2011 which comprise 62 % of owned accommodation. However, the household in rented accommodation started to decrease rapidly till 2011 before it began to increase in 2001. The rented accommodation in household constitute 32% in 2011.
