The bar chart compares the proportion of households in two types of accommodation in two countries, where include England and Wales, between year 1918 and 2011.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that households in owned accommodation was steadily increased. In contrast, the percentages of renting accommodation for households was declined consistently.
In 1918, it is the highest and the lowest for rented and owned accommodation, at around 78% and 22%, respectively. From 1918 to 1971, accommodation of rented kept falling at 50%, which was same as the proportion of owned accommodation, that rose rapidly after 1918.
After 1971, both accommodations continued to keep their trends independently. For households in owned accommodation, it kept increasing gradually from 50% to 68% at 2001 and returned to 65% slightly at 2011. On the other hand, accommodation were rented by households, was still fell down before 2001, declined from 50% to 35%, and finally, came back to 35% softly.
