The chart below shows the percentage of people using various forms of transport in France.
The bar chart compares four means of transport in France in terms of the proportion of commuters using them in the years 1990 and 2010.
Overall, Bus and Car were the most popular mode of transport during the period shown. Additionally, while the percentage of car users increased dramatically, the figure for others decreased.
In 1990, nearly 70% of people travelled by bus, compared to just over a half of commuters using car. After a period of 10 years, the proportion of bus users gradually dropped to around 55% while that of car drivers moderately went up to the same figure of bus riders in 1990. In the year 2010, car witnessed a drastic rise in the proportion of its commuters to just over 90%, and this figure was threefold higher than that of bus riders.
Train was the second common form of transport in 2009, with over 60% of people riding, and this figure significantly felt by 20% before gradually rising to around 55% in 2010. Similarly, bicycle also experienced 18% decrease in the proportion of bike riders over the period.
