The bar chart reveals information on the number of male and female students who studied the six art-related subjects at a UK university in 2011.

From an overall perspective, there was a difference between the number of male and female students studying the six selected subjects. In terms of male, the figure given for English language and literature appeared to be the largest one, with approximately 230 students which was followed by that of Communication and Media Stud and Linguistics. In fact, these figures were recorded to be nearly 210 students and 190 students, respectively.

Surprisingly, English language and literature seemed to be a subject having the highest rate of female students, with 250 students, followed by the corresponding figure of those studying Linguistics and Communication and Media Stud, with almost 240 students and 230 students, in that order. However, the lowest proportion of female students studying a subject was found to be on History and Archeology, with nearly 120 students while the corresponding figure of male was observed to be on Philosophy, with just 50 students.

It is interesting to note that all the remaining figures for male and female students ranged from nearly 90 students to roughly 180 students. Overall, the number of female students studying art-related subjects in 2011 was significantly higher than that of male in the vast majority of subjects, excepting for those who studied Art and Design.
