The chart below shows the proportions of the world’s oil resources held in different areas, together with the proportions consumed annually in the same areas.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart provides information with regard to oil consumption and resources in numerous regions around the world.
Overall, the most striking figure is the enormous proportion of oil reserve in Middle
East area. Furthermore, as can be seen from the chart, the more dynamic and populated regions are considered as the world’s largest oil consumers such as Asia, Western, Europe and the United States of America.
To be more specific, oil resources in Middle East account for 56.2 per cent, which is half of the world reserves. However, the region does not consume much compared to the vast resources it owns. The second largest reserve in the world belongs to Canada with the proportion of 14.84 per cent. The total amount of oil resources in Central and South America. Eastern Europe and Africa account for a quarter of oil reserves in the world.
In contrast to the mentioned areas, other regions around the globe especially those with condensed population often have high demand of consuming oil. Asia is the leading consumers of oil even though the region only contains 2.89 per cent of the global oil resources. US is the only nation that consumes up to more than a quarter, namely 25.48 per cent compared to other areas.
