it is clear that the percentage of males being overweight in Australia was higher than that of females in 4 years. it is also noticeable that there were gradual increases in the figures for men and women throughout the period.
In 1980, there were 45% of overweight males, while the percentage of overweight females was only 30%. In 2000, overweight men saw a significant rise to 70%. Similarly, there was a moderate climb in the figure for women to 50%.
Over the next ten years, the proportion of men who is overweight decrease slightly to nearly 68%. Meanwhile the figure for female remains unchanged, at 50%
