The chart below shows the results of a survey of people who visited four types of tourist attractions in Britain in the year 1999.
The pie chart compares the number of British people who visited distinct places of interest in 1999, in conjunction with the exact proportion of visitors to theme parks in the same year.
Overall, what stands out is that the majority of visitors constitute theme parks and museums and galleries, for three quarters to be exact, while only a small minority is made up of historic houses and monuments and wildlife parks and zoos.
Regarding the distribution of the two highest visited places, people from Britain went to theme parks marginally more than museums and galleries, 38% and 37 % respectively. In the theme parks category itself, the Blackpool Pleasure Beach had visitors nowhere near as high as the other theme parks a whole, which consists of just below half of it. The rest is made up of Alton Towers for 17%, Pleasurland for 16%, Chessington World of Adventure for 9%, and Legoland for just one-third.
Turning to the other two visited recreation centers, wildlife parks and zoos were the least popular tourist attractions with the figure just below one-third of the whole. Similarly, historic houses and momuments’ popularity were not as high as the aforementioned types in the previous paragraph, with the amount of 16%, but it still attracted more sightseers than wildlife parks and zoos.
