The chart compares the outlay among five age groups living in the United Kingdom on three different categories in 2004. The figures deliver data as the proportion of their total spending.
Overall, funds spent on food and drinks is directly proportional to the age. This area holds largest proportions in most of age groups. Older people spend more on two sectors (food and drink, restaurant and hotel) and entertainment holds minimal importance in their lives.
It is seen that consumers under 30s spend least amount of their money on food and drink (close to 6%) where as their expenditure on Restaurant and Hotel accounts for 13%, which is highest among all. The later is least popular in people over 61, where age group 61-75 accounts for roughly 2% and 76+ contributes to nearly 7%. Restaurant and Hotel are equally popular in people from 31 to 60 which is slightly above one tenth.
Probing further, the field of entertainment is well liked by the individuals between 61-75, which constitutes for roughly 22% of their spending which declines to about 13% in the people who are 75+. This sector is equally popular among folks till the age of 60 years.
