The following chart illustrates the amount of export earnings of a specific country in billion dollars during 2015 and 2016 regarding different categories, with the table depicting a comparison amongst product categories in terms of percentage change in values at the same period.
As can be clearly observed from the chart and the table, export earnings of the country can be divided into two distinctive groups based on increase or decrease in product categories values. The first group consists of Gem and jewelry. It was a dramatic decline in export value of it by about 5.18%. The country earned more than 42 billion dollars by exporting Gem and jewelry in 2015 while it was far fewer in 2016 around less than 40 billion dollars.
However, Petroleum products, engineered goods, Agricultural products, and Textile are placed in the second group. All categories of this group experienced somehow rise whether gradual or sharp. Petroleum products increased drastically from under 60 billion dollars in 2015 to above 63 billion dollars in 2016 which it was a 3% increase. Unlike Agricultural products which witnessed a slight climb of 0.81% in 2016 compared with 2015, around 30 billion dollars in both years, there was a sharp rise in Textile exports from nearly 25 billion dollars in 2015 to more than 30 billion dollars in 2016. The change percentage of Textile is 15.24%. Meanwhile, the country gained more than 60 billion dollars through exporting engineered goods in 2016, which it showed a significant rise of 8.3% in comparison with virtually 55 billion dollars of 2015.
It is clear from the chart and table that the county benefited from exports of petroleum and engineered products during 2015 and 2016 far more than other categories, whereas Textile observed the most rise regarding percentage by 15.24%, followed by engineered goods and petroleum products by 8.5% and 3%, respectively.
