THE CHART BELOWSHOWS THE PERCENTGE OF HOUSEHOLDS IN OWNED AND RENTED ACCOMODATION IN ENGLAND AND WALES BETWEEN 1918 AND 2011.
The bar graph illustrates, the comparison of rented and owned households in accommodation in England and Wales during the period of 1918 to 2011. Units are measured in percentage.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that, significant reduction in rented households in comparison with owned one over the period given. While, in turn of owned things escalating rapidly following the years.
Household in owned accommodation was about mere 22% at the beginning period which is the smallest percentage in given years. However, there was an improvement in later years and reached into approximately 33% in 1939 and 1953. Then the ratio was increased dramatically to 50% and remained constant with rented households by the year of 1971. After a decade owned households exceeding the percentage of rented households by 60% and remained relatively stable in next 20 years with near 70 %. Whereas, in 2011, there were slight decline in owned households and finished with around 65%.
Regarding rented households in accommodation has a noticeable downward trend over the years. Such as, in 1918, the account of rented households was the highest which is approximately 77% but, trend reached in below 70% in 1953. After sharing the same proportion with owned households , trend went down to 40% in 1981. Furthermore, in later years, the percentage of rented accommodation plummet to just over 30% before went up to about 35% in 2011.
