Overall, it is clear that this country seen a significant rise in waste disposal, except for paper and textile waste. Besides, paper waste was dominant over the period given
Looking at the chart in more detail, in 1960, a quarter of total waste came from paper, followed by textiles and food with 17% and 12%, respectively. In addition, the amount of green waste and non-biodegradable products (metal and plastic) were similar at 9% and 8 %. Waste disposal from wood and glass was relatively low with under 5%. Other types accounted for 12% of the total number.
After 51 years, the pattern of waste disposal changed significantly. The dominant type of waste was food as its figure increased doubly to 21%. Paper, textiles and other waste, on the other hand, saw a decline to 15% and 11%, respectively. Additionally, while residents threw away a two-fold amount of plastic and wood, the remaining types of disposal showed no change in the 51-year period.
