Then, the marriage rate decreased by 0.2 million in 1990 before levelling off to about 2 million in the final year. Meanwhile, the divorce rate commenced at 1 million in the initial year, increasing by 0.4 million in 1980. Between 1990 and 2000, the number of couples decided to part away was seen slightly change from 1.2 million to about 1 million.
