The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The given pie charts compare the average proportions in four typical meals of three different types of nutrients(Sodium, Saturated fat and Added sugar), the overconsumption of which could have pernicious effects on health.
Overall, it is clear that Sodium and Saturated fat are major constituents of an American’s dinner, while the opposite is true for breakfast. Meanwhile, snacks contained the highest proportion of added sugar among the four examined meals.
Dinner contains the highest amount of sodium and saturated fat(43% and 37%) illustrated in the charts. Following as the second highest, the consumption of these two nutrients for lunch at 29% and 26% respectively. In contrast, added sugar only makes up for around a quarter of dinner(25%) and merely 19% for lunch.
With regards to breakfast and snacks, interestingly, sodium is taken in at an equal amount of 14% while saturated fats are at a considerably lower percentage of 21% and 16% for snacks and breakfast. In terms of added sugar, snacks make up for the largest amount of sugar intake, having a 42% and a much lower amount of 16% for breakfast.
