The table provides information about change in strength of foreign students in different countries during 2013 and 2014 whereas the bar chart depicts the change in number of students only in South Korea.
Overall, the number of international students studying in various countries rose a little except for South Korea where it slightly declined. There was a steady increase in foreign students there too but the last year saw a little decrease.
Except for South Korea, every other country saw an increase in their number of foreign students in 2014 from previous year. The highest number of international students were enrolled in the USA, which was at 974,926 in 2014. This was more than double the UK’s strength and an impressive 9 times more than South Korea’s. Second most popular country for foreign students was UK with 493,570 pupils in 2014, while China was third with 377,054 students in 2014.
South Korea saw a steady rise in admission of international pupils too, as it increased from 16,832 in 2004 to 86,537 in 2012. Thereafter, it dropped slightly because in 2014 only 84,893 foreign students were studying in the country.
