Overall, both charts illustrate two opposite trends in data. The first graph saw a general upward pattern, where its figures rising from the trough at 1920 to the peak at 2019. In contrast, the second one witnessed the reverse tendency, with statistics starting at the summit and ending up at the lowest point.
Particularly, regarding the percentage of households with electrical appliances, refrigerator underwent the most noticeable surge in percentage, from 0% at its introduction to 100% at 1980, then levelling off over 19 years. The data for vacuum cleaner, from 40% at the beginning, rose gradually until 2000, in which most households acquired a vacuum cleaner. The figures for washing machine experienced a considerable fluctuation. Commencing at 30%, the statistics grew to 70% in 1960, however, they dipped by 10% in 1980, then immediately recovering to about 80% at the end of the period.
On the contrary, the number of hours for weekly housework per household started at the summit of the graph, at 50. Throughout years, it significantly dropped to 15% in 1980%, then undergoing a plateau in 2000. At the end, the number slightly hit at 10%.
