The charts below show the percentage of men and women in diffirent weight groups in England between 1993 and 2002.
The line graphs illustrate the number of men and women in various weight category, such as helathy weight, overweight, obese and dangerously obese, during the 9 year period from 1993 to 2002.
According to the chart, a little less than half of the male population is healthy. This figure dropped in 1998 to 40 percent and went down slightly to about 38 percent in year 2002. Another point to consider is the number of men that are overweight, the trend started at roughly 42% in year 1993 and then continued to increase steadily to 47% making most of the men overweight in year 2002. The number of obese also has the same movement where in it rose steadily from 10% in 1993 to 15% in 2002.
In comparison with male, the trend for womens' weight group mirrors the same. To be specific, those females who are having healthy weight decreased as well, from 42% in 1993 to 38% in 2002. The overweights and obeses' figure climbed up as well. The former from abour 56% in 1993 to approximately 58% in 2002 and the latter from roughly 11% to 28% in 2002. The data also showed that the number of dangerously obese for both male and female remains steady at 2% over the period given.
Overall, as reflected on the information provided, male and females' trend showed that while there is an increase in number of overweight and obese, the number of those that are healthy in terms of weight is declining.
