It is notable that the majority of water is used for agriculture, the opposite is true with domestic use.
The proportion of water uses on agriculture is the highest in South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia, accouting for over a half while the figures for the last two areas are similar, at 39% and 32% for North America and Europe respectively. In terms of domestic use, all six areas use the least water, in which in Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia, people use the same amount of water, at 9% and 7% compared to more than 10% water used in the last three areas.
Regarding the remaining ways, Industry accounts for nearly a half of total water use in North America and Europe, over 5 times as much as the figures for other areas, including South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia which stand at from 5% to 12%.
