With regards to the remaining British students able to speak languages other than their maternal one, there were some changes over 10 years. Fewer British students spoke only English in 2010 (10% as opposed to 20% in 2000). The proportion of students preferred French fall by 5% (from 15% to 10%) in 2010, whereas the interest to another language increased and it constituted 20% in comparison to 15% in 2000. Besides, there was a 5% rise in the percentage of students who could speak two languages in addition to English (from 10% in 2000 to 15% in 2010).

Overall, the most popular language for British students was Spanish in both years. Also the percentage of students knowing only native language reduced in two times.
