The pie charts compare the percentage of British students in one UK university who are able to speak other languages besides English between 2000 and 2010.
It is seen that there was an increase in the numbers of students in UK who can speak languages other than English after 10 years. And spanish accounted for much more than other second languages.
Over a decade, the percentage of students who speak both Spanish and English has risen by 5% (from 30% to 35%). Similar to this upward trend, the proportion of speakers of another language and two other languages also grew from 15% to 20% and from 10% to 15% respectively.
On the other hand, the years between 2000 and 2010 witnessed a sharp decrease of 10 percent in the students who can not speak other languages. Meanwhile, there was 5% less of those who speak French only.
Different from other patterns, the rate of German only remained the same over the years.
