The charts compare the number of people per household in the UK in 1981 and 2001
The visuals reveal the information regarding the quantity of individuals per household in the UK and how these figures altered from 1981 to 2001.
From the value of 31% in 1981, there was a slight rise of 3% to reach 34% in the proportion of 2-person households in 2001, ranking first among examined categories. Similar changes, but to a greater extent, were seen in the proportion of households consisting of only 1 person, which was 17% in 1981 before witnessing the most significant change of all survey sized households, indicated by a proliferation of 9% to reach 26% in 2001.
Moreover, the percentage of 3-person households started at 20%, after which it experienced a tedious drop to conclude at 17% in 2001.
In 1981, around 18% of households in the UK contained 4 persons, while only 8% of that were 5-person households and just 6% of all households were 6-person households. In the subsequent 20 years, fewer households were recorded to consist of 4 persons, with figures winding down to end the period at 15%, which was much higher compared to that of 5-person and 6-person, witnessing the same trends, to finish at 6 and 2% respectively.
