The graphs illustrate the proportion of men and women aged 60 to 64 who worked in four different countries between 1970 and 2000.
Overall, it is noticeable that the demands of jobs for men and women have a high trend in all four countries in 1970, with the highest percentage of employed was in the United States and the lowest percentage was in Japan. In addition, the percentage of those in all four countries experienced a decreased trend in 2000, with the highest proportion of employed still remaining in the US and the lowest proportion was in Belgium.
In 1970, the United States have the highest percentages of men and women working accounted for nearly 90% and 80% respectively, while the percentage of employees working in Japan was the lowest at nearly 80% for men and 58% for women. In addition, the proportion of working for men from Indonesia is 85%, while the percentage of females was 65%. The percentage of men and women working in Belgium was nearly 80% and 63% respectively.
After 30 years, the percentages of men and women were employed in four countries has decreased, but the proportion of male employees between the ages of 60 and 64 in the United States still has the highest proportion nearly 80%. In contrast, the female employment proportion falls a half for the United States. In addition, Belgium and Japan both have an equal decrease in the male employment rate of 52%, but the female employment percentage from Belgium dropped the most with nearly 10% and Japan's female employment percentage decreased slightly to 49%. The percentage of men and women working in Indonesia decreased by 72% and 50% respectively.
