Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the nineteenth century. The map below shows the development of the village.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the development of the village.
The map illustrates the rapid expansion of village of Chorleywood during the period from 1868 to 1994.
Back to the years between 1868 and 1883, Chorleywood was just a small village on the side of a main road. The village then significantly expanded to the south with the contruction of the railway and Chorleywood station during 1883-1922. The additional transport network by train had encouraged the strong development of the land of the village along the railway from 1922 to 1970.
In 1970, the motorway which crossed both the main road and the railway was completed on the east of the village. As a result, the village established more and more land to the east along the new motorway, especially around the road intersect areas between 1970 and 1994. In addition, the Choleywood park and Gold course were also appeared during this period.
Overall, together with the speedy investment in infrastructure, we’ve seen a great expansion of the village of Chorleywood in 1868 - 1994.
